Mid- to senior-level staff in financial crime, compliance, or intelligence teams across HMRC, FCA, Bank of England, National Crime Agency, and other law enforcement or regulatory bodies. Staff involved in financial crime investigation, intelligence analysis, or policy implementation who need practical analytical skills and insights.

This practical, interactive workshop is designed for professionals with responsibilities or a working interest in financial crime intelligence analysis, at all levels. No formal prerequisites are required; however, participants are expected to have a general understanding of financial crime and an interest in managing risk within their organisation.

4. Aims

This course develops professional capability in financial crime intelligence analysis, equipping participants to apply analytical tools and structured techniques to interpret information, produce robust intelligence assessments, and support operational decision-making, investigations, and policy or strategy development.

5. Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Differentiate between information, intelligence, analysis, and assessment in a financial crime context.

  • Explain and apply the stages of the intelligence cycle to financial crime analysis tasks.

  • Identify and mitigate the impact of assumptions, cognitive bias, and evidential gaps in analysis.

  • Select and apply appropriate Structured Analytic Techniques (SATs) to financial crime problems.

  • Produce a structured, evidence-based intelligence assessment using multiple information sources.

  • Practical analytical task where participants produce a short intelligence assessment using provided financial crime data/scenario.

  • Facilitator feedback on analytical rigour, use of evidence, and clarity of judgements.

  • Delegate self-assessment and end-of-course feedback to capture confidence, relevance, and intended workplace application.
